IPL – is it hurting players reputation?
The very very famous IPL – Indian Premier League , the one which has shown money power of Indian business magnets, the one which has shown crore values of Indian cricketers, one & only one cricket tournament which gained a worldwide attention & generated immense cash (BCCI got about 2000crore rupees with IPL).
What is IPL ?
When expanded it will look like “Indian Premier League” -a form of English Premier League (Football version – club football league ) or a form of NBA tournaments. IPL is its cricket version with a series of 20-20 matches (fastest cricket match) played as a tournament. BCCI is the owner of IPL supported by ICC (International Cricket Council). It includes 8 teams named under different Indian states. Each team includes an Icon player like Sachin for Mumbai, Ganguly for Kolkata & so on. In each match 6 players must be Indian & 5 can be foreign. Icon player is the highest paid of a team. Each team is under the custody of great & powerful Indian business magnets like Vijay Malliya (Bangalore) , Mukesh Ambani (Mumbai) etc. With involvement of bollywood stars like Sharuk & Preity the IPL gained a damn heavy media attention.
How IPL looks to ordinary people?
To many people IPL is club cricket. They are enjoying the different combinations like Sachin-Sanath in a team, Ganguly-Ponting in a team etc etc. People has taken IPL on their hearts with more impact than a world cup cricket. Media is also giving a heavy attention.
What is IPL actually?
IPL is not developed on the basis of sports ethics. Its just a business. I would say, its a damn sexy business idea developed on the brain of Lalith Mody (Business giant of India). Like the way companies purchase something or they acquire small companies, the business tycoons of India purchased all great Indian players.IPL is killing the ethical sports spirit in people. Now players are given crores & they are just dolls of these tycoons. Just remember the recent Malliya – Dravid incident!
Mr.Rahul Dravid was a very well respected, well behaved player of India. He was a world focus & was a role model for many young players & a major youth of India. Hes even nicknamed as “Mr.Clean” because of his renowned attitude. Now see,hes just a doll of Malliya. Despite the respect he deserve, despite the fame & authority dravid has, Malliya fights him with abuses for the failure of Bangalore team. The Incident was so pity because Dravid got hit on his cool & clean image he developed over years. Do Dravid deserve this??
What if Mukesh Ambani do this to great Indian Icon Sachin Tendulkar? Hes renowned as worlds greatest cricket player of all time next to or eqaul to Don Bradman. Hes a great icon & role model for many many all over the world. Isn’t this business attitudes hurting players reputation? For Mukesh & Malliya its just business, they want their crores back that all. But in a country where cricket is religion & players are Gods, its too bad to have such practices because this will give impact to a lot of people.
